Feeding & Care

Do not feed birds fruit seeds, avocados, chocolate, onions, apple seeds, uncooked beans, uncooked rice, alcohol or caffeine as these can cause serious medical problems, and kill them

A Camilla's diet should consist of 70% pellets, 30% fresh fruit & veggies.

They need a lot of daily social interaction so they can bond with your "flock" both direct face to face, and indirect just being around the family.

They can be very destructive which is why they need a variety of toys to keep them mentally stimulated, and from getting bored which can lead to self mutilation.

They need a variety of different sized perches to help exercise, and stretch their feet.

Camilla Macaws are an extremely rare 2nd generation Hybrid Macaw meaning they are a cross between a first generation Macaw, and a natural occuring species. With a Camilla Macaw these two species are a Green Wing Macaw (naturally occuring), and a Miligold Macaw (Blue & Gold Macaw and a Military Macaw). They are known for being characters that go from being silly, and playful to wanting to cuddle up. They are also known to be not only playful and acrobatic, but very curious birds also. They love attention which combined with being very curious birds can sometimes get them into trouble.

They live 60 to 85 years, and some even older due to modern healthier diets, exercise, and mental stimulation. Macaws are not a parrot for first time bird owners, and a lot of thought, and consideration should go into the idea of getting one for a companion bird.
